Wantage Parish

Children and Families

We're committed as a church to seeing children and families come to faith, develop in their knowledge and love of Jesus and be full, active members of the Church. Families are welcome at any of our activities or services and those listed on this page are particuarly suitable. We hope to see you soon!

Trinity Tots

Trinity Tots provides a supportive environment for parents and their little ones, offering fun resources and themed activities for babies, toddlers, and pre-school children. It is led by a rota of parishioners and volunteers, all who have DBS clearance and Safeguarding training and is covered by the church safeguarding and insurance policies.

The group meets in Holy Trinity Church, Charlton Village Road, Wantage OX12 7HW from 9am until 11am on the 1st and 3rd Mondays in term-time.

The next meeting is on Monday 21 October 9 - 11am. There will be a session Bible story/seasonal theme, a range of fun activities, snack time for the children and refreshments for parents/carers. We all come together at the end of the session for story/singing/rhyme time.

Booking and paying for a space at the group is via Eventbrite and the link is open during the week before, from 8pm on the Tuesday until 9pm on the Sunday. There is a limited number of spaces available and bookable with one space per family. We regret that we are unable to accommodate childminders or school age children at this time. The charge is £3.00 per family to cover snacks, drinks, replacement toys and consumables.

Links with Wantage CE Primary School

Wantage Parish values its close links with the school. Two school governors are appointed from the parish, the clergy visit the school regularly and the pupils attend services in the church.  Members of the congregation take part in two initiatives which support the spiritual development of the children, Open the Book and Prayer Space.

Prayer Space

Prayer Spaces provide children with a chance to take a break from their busy lives and spend a short time in discussion, simple activities and contemplation or prayer, based on a theme. These sessions are led by volunteers from our churches, often supported by friends from other local congregations, and take place either at school or in the church.  Our most recent Prayer Space explored the theme of God’s Wonderful World.

Open the Book

The Open the Book Team visit the school weekly to act out stories from the bible and lead the children in worship. These weekly assemblies are greatly appreciated by children and staff alike. During the coronavirus pandemic, when school visits were not possible, the team maintained contact by creating weekly videos that children could watch at home or in school.
