Welcome to the Parish of Wantage,

a Church of England parish serving the people of this beautiful and historic South Oxfordshire market town.

There are two Anglican churches in the parish:

the Medieval Parish Church of Ss. Peter and Paul in the centre of town, and the Edwardian church of Holy Trinity in Charlton.

Wantage has historically been associated with leading educational reform,

the building of schools and the rehabilitation of those on the margins of society.

In the 19th century, the parish embraced the revival of Catholic tradition that emerged from the Oxford Movement.

This tradition continues to influence the style of our worship and the character of our mission.

From 1847 a mass has been said here daily.

The Parish Church is usually open to visitors from 10am until 12 noon, Monday to Saturday.

You are welcome to look around and to sit for a while in this sacred space.

The Lady Chapel and our beautiful chancel are set aside for private prayer.
